Studying Meditation
I'm reading a book by a Tibetan monk, Sogyal Rinpoche, called "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying." It's quite good-humored and interesting. He says that Westerners often ask him how long they should meditate, 20 minutes morning and night, or is it okay to do shorter times throughout the day. [like taking medicine, I guess] He says that there is no prescription in any Eastern teachings that he has studied. Apparently, this is "Meditation Western Standard Time!" {I laughed out loud when I saw that!}
[Sidebar: I'm in a PC cafe, and have concluded that video games, when played with others, help develop foresight in teenagers. The fellows here discuss strategy a lot.]
I'll add more to this post later.

Some Photos from my trip to the US.

Grand Canyon, 2012 June 30, late afternoon...there are 2 California Condors out there somewhere! One of them soared within 50 feet of me. That's one BIG Bird!

Oak Creek, Arizona, with Cathedral Rocks in the background. I soaked my feet in the creek,- it was very cooling. Got that spiffy straw hat in Sedona.

My new daughter-in-law and I, just after the wedding on July 7, 2012 in East Sandwich, Mass.

Upcoming excitement
I will be flying to my son's wedding on Cape Cod soon. Friends and family members are coming in from all over the globe; it should be quite a gathering! I'll tell you all about it and try to upload some photos later on. I'm planning on visiting folks from California to Maine, for nearly 4 weeks, this summer. I'll have 2 of my students "catsitting" here at my apartment while I'm gone. Needless to say, I'm awfully busy getting ready, so this is just a short note.

New Soup
Just tried an experiment I found to be quite tasty.
Heated 2 cups of pumpkin soup just to the boil, stirred in a tablespoon of peanut butter and 3 handfuls of puffed wheat. My gosh, it was good! Nutritious, too, as it has balanced protein, lots of different vitamins and plenty of both soft and "hard" fiber.
